American filmmaker Ted V. Mikels holds a unique position as one of the most unconventional directors of exploitation cinema. Famous for his eccentric home life (he once lived with a harem in a castle with secret passageways) and promotional gimmicks (he was known for having nurses and ambulances on hand to assist "scared-to-death" moviegoers), Mikels is now considered a pioneering master of low-budget movie making.
Examples of Mikels' influence can be seen everywhere: from music (punk band The Misfits wrote a tribute song called "The Astro-Zombies"), to Mikels' film The Doll Squad being the template for the television series Charlie's Angels, to inspiring the look of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill.

TVM Global Entertainment announced today that the company has signed a contract with Alpha Video for national home distribution of Astro Zombies M3: Cloned. TVM also inked a deal for Alpha Video to distribute Demon Haunt, the company's latest supernatural film.
"I am absolutely delighted," said Producer/Director Ted V. Mikels from his home in Las Vegas.
"Alpha Video has faithfully distributed many of my films over the past years, and they never fail to keep me and my work frequently featured in their catalogues and magazine ads."
"Alpha Video is the premiere distribution center for independent films," said associate producer Richard Lester. "They send out catalogues featuring many of their thousands of titles to 250,000 subscribers every six weeks or so, and I am always seeing Ted and his films spotlighted."
"In addition, you can always see their full page ads in such fan magazines as Fangoria. Alpha Video is the major player when it comes to independent film distribution."
Lester chuckled when he thought about Alpha Video's extensive advertising campaign. "There are a lot of great horror film directors out there -- George Romero, Roger Corman, John Carpenter -- yet only one had his name and face appearing in a huge ad in the current Oldies.com catalogue. I don't need to tell you who it was," he added.
Mikels was quite pleased with Alpha Video stepping up to the plate to distribute -- not one, but two - of his most recent films. The distribution giant also released The Wild World of Ted V. Mikels this month, which is a documentary film about the legendary director, created by New York producer Kevin Sean Michaels. Astro Zombies M3: Cloned and Demon Haunt are both expected to go on sale separately around Halloween, with an expected retail price of $9.95 for each one. Both DVDs will contain bonus features.
The Wild World of Ted V. Mikels is currently on sale at Oldies.com for $9.95. It contains a number of bonus materials, including a five minute extended trailer from Astro Zombies M3: Cloned.
TVM Global is continuing to explore additional distribution possibilities beyond the home entertainment market for both films on the internet as well as in foreign markets.
Astro Zombies M3:Cloned is a TVM Global Entertainment production, in association with Blue Heron International Pictures.
Demon Haunt is a TVM Global Entertainment production.
